The binding is FINALLY on........and a yummy new recipe

I'm so excited, I added the border to my Blustery Day quilt. The corner is highlighted below. I put it against red to show you the pins and so that the green border would stand out. You can see the full quilt here. All I need to do now if hand stitch the back side of the binding and I can check anotherUFO off the list. I'm on a roll!


Below is the backing that highlights my stippling or meandering. Sorry about the poor lighting. I need a better camera I think.


I was ambitious today and baked my grandmother's pumkin spice bread recipe for my Ladies Bible Study on Tuesday night. I'm planning to serve it with cream cheese and Pumkin Spice coffee. Yummy! (I made a batch of pumkin muffins for the hubby so he wouldn't be tempted to "take a sliver off the end" of this beautiful loaf) lol You can see the raisins peaking out.


Here's a better side view. Can you tell I'm all proud of myself? I baked a loaf of corn bread today too. That's for tomorrow night's dinner of Lentil soup that will go into the slow cooker in the morning before we head off to work. I had a busy day!!

Recipe for those who want to make this:
Spicy Pumkin Loaf or Muffins
1.5 c flour
1/2 c sugar (I used splenda)
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves (I didn't have any cloves and it came out just fine)
1/4 c raisins
1 egg
1/2 c canned pumkin
1/4 c oil
1/2 c milk (I used skim)
Topping: 1.5 tsp sugar & 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Stir flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & spices in large mixing bowl until well combined. Then mix in raisins. In a separate bowl, beat egg, milk, pumkin & oil. Pour pumkin mixture into flour & spices, stirring only until combined. Don't over mix. Fill lightly greased (or sprayed) muffin cups 2/3 full or use loaf pan. Mix topping sugar and cinnamon together and lightly sprinkle over muffins/loaf.
Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned (see picture) Makes 12 servings.

  3. I just made pumpkin bread over the weekend. I like the idea of the cinnamon sugar on the top!! I will do that at the next baking; good idea!
